András Czifra is focussed  on  imparting a relaxed and  “healthy” violin technique and specializes in working with advanced amateurs, university students and professional violinists.

 

About me

András Czifra was born in Budapest, Hungary and  comes from a family of musicians. His father and grandfather were  also violinists and both had leading positions in Budapest orchestras.

He started his violin study in his hometown and continued later with the   Belgian violinist  Arthur Grumiaux,  obtaining the “Premier Prix” at the Conservatoire Royal of Brussels.

 

After this period he was accepted  at Indiana University (Bloomington , USA) as a student of Rostislav Dubinsky,  founding member and first violinist of the  Borodin Quartet.

András Czifra’s   represents and integrates  both the Franco-Belgian and Russian  violin schools in his playing and teaching.

Chamber music

As a member of the ANCOR DUO he performed countless  concerts offering almost the entire  sonata repertoire  for violin and piano and as a member of   the OPHIR TRIO he performed many piano trios and recorded CDs.

In addition Czifra is much in demand with other chamber music formations and has collaborated in concerts and recordings with renown musicians such as Rostislav Dubinsky, Luba Edlina, Yuli Turowsky  and  Jean Jaques Kantorow.

Teaching

Since 1982 András has been professor of violin at CODARTS (Rotterdam Conservatoire) in The Netherlands where has a large violin class which includes   students of various nationalities.

He has given masterclasses in many European countries and he is available for  online teaching.( Skype, Zoom or Microsoft Teams).

Conducting

Since 1995 Czifra  has  also been active as a conductor, after having followed a study with the renowned French conductor, Roberto Benzi.

Besides in The Netherlands, he has conducted performances abroad in France, Spain and Hungary.
